Hazing [24 Mar 2006|02:19pm]
Hello, we are two students at Rochester Institute of Technology currently engaged in an independent study project addressing the issue of hazing. The goal of this project is two-pronged - we wish to discover the prevalence of hazing in the state as well as get your opinion on what should be done about it, if anything.

Under the lj-cut is our survey, which asks a variety of questions about your personal experiences with hazing, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could take a minute or two from your time to fill it out really quickly. We even have questions at the beginning for those who have never experienced hazing but wish to share their opinion on the subject. Additionally, each question gives you the option to answer in more detail beyond the choices we have already provided. We encourage you to take advantage of this if you have more include in your answer.

Your responses to this survey are anonymous, so please do not put your name (or any information that would identify you) anywhere on this survey. You may quit the survey at any time and for any reason, or you may decline to answer any of the questions, but your responses to every question are important and we ask that you answer as many of the questions as you possibly can. You may post your answers however you like - under your user name, anonymously, or you may e-mail them to us at hazing.survey@gmail.com. All posts will be screened, so no one except you, us, and the community administrator will be able to see your responses.

Please inform us of any questions, concerns, or feedback you might have. Thank you in advance for your time.

Pre- Dome festivities [26 Oct 2005|03:42pm]

So, Dome is almost here! Good luck to all.

Just wondering, do you guys do any special pre-Dome activities? IE, wear the same outfit to school, or anything interesting? We're having Dinkle Day, everyone's wearing their mb shoes, mb shirt, and jeans. Last year we made shirts, writing random memories all over them and signing them, mine's hanging in my room. This year we're having a Speghetti dinner... I don't think this has happened before. But, a marching band is a big team, so it's limited to Seniors, Juniors, and Saxophones, of course, after all, we are the superior species.

So now that I've bored you all out of your minds with things you don't care about...

Anyone else do anything fun for Dome?

To everyone who was at Webster this weekend... [23 Oct 2005|02:35pm]

[ mood | cheerful ]

"Excellent" Job. hahaha. All the way home, we got to listen to our drum major use the word "excellent" about 6541202867681e.4158 times.

Anyways, bummer that it was an indoor show, that was our first one in a long time. But we just got new uniforms last week and it would have sucked big time to get them wet. Still, I do wish it wasn't moved indoors.

But really, everyone did do quite amazing. I would talk about specific shows except I have the attention span of a fly and didn't pat attention to which show went with which school.

One week 'till Dome!!! Gook luck, all.

Well-wishes, good thoughts, prayers, etc. [17 Oct 2005|05:41pm]

If you all could offer up a prayer or well-wishes or whatever it is that you do, while you're thinking of the band in WI, it'd be great. One of our students (who replaced me this year in my old position on drumline) received news at our competition that his father fell off of a roof. He was flown to Albany Med and is having surgery today. It's pretty serious, he has a bruised heart, and talk of permanent paralysis has been mentioned. Just please keep the family in your thoughts if you could. Thanks!

West Genesee, you guys were AMAZING! Very well done. If I weren't a senior, I'd seriously move to your school next year.

Well done to all the other bands who performed, especially whoever did the Fiddler show, because that was just cool.

Marching in mud like that is not something I want to do any time soon again. I'll stick to our astroturfed field in our stadium.

BTW, West Gennesee, whoever your male guardie is, he was AWESOME!!! He never stopped performing, and it just caught my eye that even when facing backfield and when his flag sailed, he had a huge smile on his face. Very well done!

Johnstown Competition, 9-17 [18 Sep 2005|12:55am]

I just want to say congratulations to all the bands who performed at the competition. From what I was able to hear of the bands both before and after us (Kingston), it was a good show for everyone. By the way, Mohonasen, we played PotC last year as our field show, and EVERY competition we went to (all MAC, as far as I recall), we were the 4th or 5th band to play Pirates, so we couldn't help but snicker when we heard your show being announced. I personally felt that the show we put on tonight was the best we've done, sinking field aside (was my band the only one to find the tunnels under the field and trip in them?). Last night at our first football game, our directors chewed us out for being WAY too quiet and weak, but tonight after the show they had the biggest smiles on their faces and were incredibly pleased with our sound tonight, so we're all pumped up and ready for our next competition (either Ramsey, Mohonasen, or Naugatuck, can't remember).

Anywho, congrats to all, and good luck on the rest of your seasons!
